Beloved Firefighter Dies Suddenly In Motorcycle Crash In Central PA

A 32-year-old firefighter has died suddenly following a motorcycle accident on Saturday, June 11, authorities say.

Heather Renee Gower, a Blue Rock Fire Rescue firefighter, had a single-vehicle crash in the 100 block of Penn Street, Washington Boro, around 8:30 p.m., according to a release by Manor Township police.

Officers arrived in less than "three minutes and began performing life-saving efforts," along with "several citizens (who) helped Officers with life-saving efforts until EMS and FD arrived," police say.

Unfortunately, Gower was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Lancaster County coroner's office.

The investigation into this crash is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact Manor Township Police at 717-299-5231.

The Blue Rock Fire Rescue has released the following statement on her sudden passing:

“It is with deep sorrow we announce that last night in a vehicle accident not related to BRFR, we lost one of our members, Fire Fighter Heather Gower you will be missed by many. Thank you for your service to your community, and for stepping up when help was needed. Rest easy, we will take it from here.”

Gower was originally from Williamsport, and attended Boyertown Senior High School before she moved to Lancaster County, where studied at the Millersville University of Pennsylvania, according to her social media.

She was in a relationship with Tedi Carbaugh and was a volunteer firefighter for the West Station’s Engine Company 907, her social media details.

Her community has already been sharing about it's loss of social media, including her sister Jesse Gower who writes:

"I love you I miss you 😔 😢 I don't know why life has to be so mean things will never be the same without you sis. Im going to miss all of our laughs cutting deer in the shop. Our vactions wont be the same we were just talking last night about if you were gonna make it this year. watch over us and ill.make sure Hayden knows what a great anti you were I love you so much. Fly high my beautiful sister until we meet again."

She is survived by her family, friends, coworkers, former classmates, all the members of the community whose lives she saved.

Funeral and memorial service details have yet to be released.
